The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of the Philippines has released Memorandum Circular No. 004-06-2026, which updates the technical regulations for specific categories of Short Range Devices (SRD). This update specifically targets equipment used for detecting movement and providing alerts.

This circular amends Section 2 of Memorandum Circular No. 03-05-2007, establishing revised operating parameters to ensure efficient spectrum use. Manufacturers must now align their technical specifications with the updated frequency ranges and power limits for the following bands:
  • 2400 – 2483.5 MHz
  • 9200 – 9500 MHz
  • 9500 – 9975 MHz
  • 13.4 – 14.0 GHz
  • 24.05 – 24.25 GHz
  • 77 – 81 GHz

For manufacturers currently in the R&D phase or planning near-term market entry, these changes may impact hardware design and testing protocols. Compliance with these specific power and frequency constraints is mandatory for the legal operation of movement detection and alert equipment within the Philippines. Any functions or components that exceed these technical limits will result in non-compliance.

The regulation was issued on 29 June 2026 and takes effect fifteen days after its publication and filing with the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR).
