Regulatory Updates for Morocco
ANRT authorise WiFi 6E for use in Morocco
Moroccan Regulator ‘Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications” has issued ANRT/DG/N°07/21 of the 7th May 2021, which is a revised their decision ANRT/DG/N°07/2020 to permit the use of WiFi 6. WiFi 6E complements WiFi 5 and 6 (already authorized in Morocco in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands).

The new regulation sets the technical conditions for the use of radio installations composed of low power and Short Range devices. The regulation introduces a number of new applications for Short Range devices, including the 24-24.25 GHz band and other low-power short-range portable devices.

CMIM Conformity Mark
The Moroccan Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCINET) have confirmed an extension to the formal enforcement of the CMIM Moroccan cMark for EMC/LVD. All products falling within scope must carry the CMIM mark before passing customs from 1st January 2020.

To recap on requirements, Moroccan EMC and LVD requirements were published in 2016 and are identical to the EU Directives 2014/35/EU (LVD) and 2014/30/EU (EMC). Equipment falling within this scope must have the CMIM Mark affixied at the time of import into Morocco, with local importers using an Arabic language Declaration of Conformity to obtain clearance authorisation for the equipment. Any radio equipment which has obtained a Type Approval certificate from ANRT in Morocco is excluded from EMC/LVD requirements.
