FCC Proposes Expanded Satellite Connectivity for Unlicensed Devices

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr proposed examining whether devices using Part 15 unlicensed spectrum, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and IoT equipment, could communicate directly with authorised satellites. The proposal would also clarify the use of such devices aboard and between spacecraft. It remains subject to Commission approval.
