16-NOV-22

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) will now accept test reports to CE standards which have been issued by SABS-approved or ILAC-accredited labs in place of testing at a SABS-accredited lab. Manufacturers can now apply for SABS approval using ILAC-accredited test reports. This applies to applications for all non-telecommunication electronic and electrical equipment.

The new regulation came into force on November 1, 2022.

More information is available under this link: https://www.sabs.co.za/Media/docs/2022_11_02_EMC_COC.pdf

As a reminder, SABS is an EMC certification requirement which is necessary for most non-RF equipment in South Africa. RF and Telecom equipment which undergo ICASA approval do not require a separate SABS certification.
