The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Peru has announced significant advancements in improving Wi-Fi connectivity in indoor spaces. The news was disclosed on December 4, 2023, through Ministerial Resolution No. 1685-2023-MTC-01.03.
The project, available for review at the
Project Publication link, proposes adjustments to Ministerial Resolution No. 777-2005-MTC-03, specifically regarding the use of Wi-Fi in the 5150-5250MHz band.
The proposal highlights an increase in the maximum allowed power, from EIRP: 23dBm to EIRP: 30dBm, with the aim of enhancing coverage in indoor spaces. This technical adaptation seeks to utilize the 5 GHz frequency band more efficiently, providing a broader spectrum, greater transmission capacity, and faster internet access.
