On 05 May 2026, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) officially registered two critical updates to its regulatory framework: MCMC MTSFB TC T007:2026 and MCMC MTSFB TC T022:2026. These documents represent a significant shift in how radio and communications equipment are certified in Malaysia.

Evolution of SRD Specifications
The new MCMC MTSFB TC T007:2026 (Third Revision) replaces the previous 2020 version. It focuses strictly on the technical parameters for Short Range Devices (SRDs), including:
  • Updated frequency bands and power limits for RFID and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) applications.
  • Refined specifications for Active Medical Implants and Inductive Devices.
  • Integration of the latest MCMC Class Assignments to ensure alignment with national spectrum planning.
Notably, general requirements such as EMC and Safety have been removed from this code and consolidated into a new standalone baseline standard.

Baseline Requirements for All Communications Equipment
MCMC MTSFB TC T022:2026 establishes a universal set of baseline requirements applicable to all communications equipment. Key areas of focus include:
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Mandatory compliance with ETSI EN 301 489-1 or specialized standards for maritime and aeronautical equipment.
  • Electrical Safety: Adherence to IEC 62368-1 is required, alongside specific requirements for Malaysian power plugs and voltage.
  • Human Exposure: Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) requirements for devices used within 200 mm of the body and Power Density (PD) assessments for frequencies above 6 GHz.
  • Labelling: Mandatory marking requirements for manufacturer identification, brand, and model in English or Bahasa Melayu.

For manufacturers, these changes necessitate a review of existing test reports and potential gap analyses to ensure new products meet the updated 2026 criteria before market entry.
