Brazilian Regulator ANATEL have issued a new resolution – Resolução No. 715, de 23 de Outubro de 2019 which will, on 22nd April 2020 revoke Resolution No. 242 of November 30, 2000 and Resolution No. 323, of November 7, 2002.

Key changes introduced by the new resolution are as follows:

  1. ANATEL will no longer charge a fee for approval of telecommunications products.
  2. In the case of products requiring re-testing at time of approval renewal, samples will be taken from the local market rather than submitted by the manufacturer.
  3. Market surveillance measures will be introduced.

The Operational Procedures to support the new Resolution are yet to be published however will also present changes to the current procedure. More details to follow.

Venezuela Updates Type Approval Certificate Validity Under SIGESTEL

CONATEL, through the SIGESTEL platform, has updated the validity framework for type approval certificates in Venezuela. While certificates issued during the initial SIGESTEL implementation phase were standardized to a one-year validity period, newly issued certificates are now being granted with indefinite validity. Existing certificates will remain valid until their expiry date, after which new applications submitted through SIGESTEL will be issued under the updated framework.
