Kenya CAK has updated its Guidelines on the Use of Short Range Devices
The new Guidelines replaces the older version of July 2016 and takes into account the frequency band 5925 - 6425 MHz for Wireless Access System on Low Power Indoor (LPI) use basis and on Very Low Power (VLP) use for indoor and outdoor excluding drone use however. SRD are license-free operable and exempted from CAK Type Approval

New public consultation published for static mobile phone repeaters in Kenya.
On 21st of September 2021, The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) have launched a public consultation "On Type Approval Of Static Mobile Phone Signal Repeaters".
All interested parties can submit their comments until 12th of October 2021 (including).

Public Consultation on proposed IPv6 migration by July 2022.
On 4th of May 2021, a public consultation on IPv4 to IPv6 migration strategy was published by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), emphasizing the urgent need for migration until July 2022.
 As such, it is anticipated that from July 2022 it will be possible to approve equipment supporting IPv6 only.
 Should anyone is wishing to submit their feedback or proposals, they can do that by contacting CA by 21st of May 2021.

Public Consultation on changes to the Guidelines for Mobile Cellular Devices
On 23rd of March 2021, the Communication Authority of Kenya have started a public consultation on "Draft Guidelines on Features and Technical Specifications for Mobile Cellular Devices imported into and distributed in Kenya".
Following changes have been proposed in the draft:
1. Reference to article stating that only licenced telecommunications vendors shall be authorized to import into or distribute mobile cellular device in Kenya was removed.
2. All Mobile cellular device shall now also comply with the EN IEC 62368-1:2020 Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment – Part 1: Safety requirements.
