Canada ISED Adopts ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 for DFS (RSS-247)
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) proposes to adopt ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11) as an accepted standard for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) testing under RSS-247. A six-month transition period is proposed, ending with full adoption of the updated standard, which provides new guidance for radar detection in client devices. Consultation closes November 19, 2025.
Canada ISED Issues Guidance on SAR Test Reduction
ISED clarifies guidance for applying SAR test reductions under RSS-102.SAR.MEAS. Devices tested for 1g body SAR at 5 mm or less may omit 0 mm limb SAR testing if all specified conditions are met. The reduction does not apply for hand or >6 GHz exposure cases.
Canada ISED Ends RSS-216 Issue 2 Transition Period
The one-year transition period allowing use of RSS-216 Issue 2 has officially ended. Starting September 4, 2025, only RSS-216 Issue 3 is accepted for certification of wireless power transfer devices in Canada.
