The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Peru has announced significant advancements in improving Wi-Fi connectivity in indoor spaces. The news was disclosed on December 4, 2023, through Ministerial Resolution No. 1685-2023-MTC-01.03.

The project, available for review at the Project Publication link, proposes adjustments to Ministerial Resolution No. 777-2005-MTC-03, specifically regarding the use of Wi-Fi in the 5150-5250MHz band.

The proposal highlights an increase in the maximum allowed power, from EIRP: 23dBm to EIRP: 30dBm, with the aim of enhancing coverage in indoor spaces. This technical adaptation seeks to utilize the 5 GHz frequency band more efficiently, providing a broader spectrum, greater transmission capacity, and faster internet access.

The public consultation period, initiated on November 29 and extended until December 13, 2023, invites both citizens and stakeholders to share their comments and observations. The entire process, from public consultation to potential approval, could take several weeks or months
