The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) has launched a public consultation titled "Spectrum Plan for the Accommodation of Non-Terrestrial Networks (Version 0.1)," aimed at developing a new spectrum plan for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) in the 2 GHz band.

Key points of the spectrum plan:

Spectrum Allocation: The plan proposes to allocate spectrum in the 2 GHz band (2005 - 2020/2185 - 2200 MHz) for NTN, including 3GPP technologies such as band n256.
Enabled Services: This spectrum is expected to facilitate a range of Mobile Satellite Services (MSS), including satellite telephony, data terminals, telemetry, positioning services, and maritime safety information. It is also expected to enable IoT applications, enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and advanced data services.
Licensing: Point-to-multipoint spectrum licenses will be granted for the operation of international public telecommunications networks. NTN operators must have a prior agreement with a local terrestrial network operator.

The consultation will remain open until October 29, 2024. Comments can be submitted via email to: consultation@tatt.org.tt.
