Mandatory SABER Registration for Telecommunication Equipment

15-JAN-20

The deadline has now passed for the issuance of Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO) Certificates of Conformity for equipment falling under "Technical Regulations for the Telecommunication devices" in Saudi Arabia.

Certified Bodies (CBs) have stopped registering Certificates of Conformity as of 15th January 2020. As of this date, it is now mandatory for most equipment falling under "Technical Regulations for the Telecommunication devices" to instead be registered using the SABER platform and obtain a Product Certificate and a Shipment Certificate. The latter is a requirement for the consignment, meaning that registration on the SABER Portal is required every time a consignment is shipped into Saudi Arabia.

Manufacturers can check if their products would require SASO certification by referring to the technical regulations here. HS code and product category will determine whether SASO certification is required.
