Saudi Arabia have recently published an update to national technical specification RI056, governing 3G and 4G handsets and terminal equipment.

An updated list of equipment categories has been published including smart watches, M2M equipment, tablets and mobile phones, which must as a minumum support 4G and cellular transmission in line with RI056 in order to obtain approval from CITC in Saudi Arabia.

The updated technical specification also confirms revisions to frequency bands and the CITC mobile broadcast alert procedure, which is mandatory for all mobile phones in Saudi Arabia.

The full RI056 technical specification can be found here.
