The Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL) announced the opening of a public consultation for the reform of General Telecommunications Law No. 153-98.
The public consultation began on December 23, 2025, and will remain open until January 30, 2026. During this period, service providers, digital ecosystem stakeholders, and the general public may submit observations, comments, and suggestions on the preliminary guidelines of the proposed reform.

Privacy and Data Protection: For devices that interact with the Internet of Things (IoT) or other digital platforms, manufacturers must ensure they can guarantee the privacy of communications and the security of data generated by users.
Protection Against Abusive Practices: The reform includes new protections for users against unsolicited communications (spam) and ensures that digital services are accessible, including for people with disabilities.
