TELCOR has issued Administrative Agreement No. 004-2025, which sets out the new requirements for the type approval of telecommunications equipment in Nicaragua. The regulation is already in effect and applies immediately to all importation, commercialization, and certification processes.

Key updates:

  • Mandatory Labeling

All approved equipment must carry a visible label that includes:

Homologado por TELCOR
Certificado de Homologación No. XXXXXXXXXX

The label must be clearly legible and applied by the manufacturer, importer, or distributor. We are currently seeking clarification from the regulator on specific labeling cases, such as the use of electronic labels (E-label) and alternative placement for very small devices.

  • Upcoming List of Exempt Equipment

The regulation includes a current list of equipment categories that are exempt from type approval, such as:

  • Devices in transit
  • Non-RF equipment
  • Police or Army equipment

TELCOR has also indicated that it is working on an expanded exemption list, to be published in the future.
