Morocco's National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) has begun requesting physical samples of 5G-capable equipment as part of the type approval process.
According to local representatives, ANRT is requesting one production-equivalent sample to conduct compatibility testing and verify operation on Morocco's 5G networks.
No new regulation has been introduced. ANRT's existing regulatory framework already permits the authority to request samples when necessary. However, this provision is now being applied to 5G equipment applications.
Although no official public announcement has been issued, manufacturers should anticipate potential sample requests for 5G-capable products and account for associated shipping and testing time when planning certification.
Further clarification is expected regarding the scope of testing, applicability and additional lead times.
Eleos Compliance will continue monitoring developments and provide updates as further information becomes available.
