New Official Standard NOM-001-SCFI-2018

New Official Mexican Standard NOM-001-SCFI-2018 has been published in the Official Gazette of Mexico, replacing NOM-001-SCFI-1993. NOM-001-SCFI-2018 will be in force on 15th June 2020.

NOM-001-SCFI-2018 establishes the characteristics and safety requirements, specifying the requirements to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to the operator and any personnel who may come into contact with the equipment.

The new NOM standard is applicable to electronic equipment used in Mexico, namely equipment using mains electric supply or other power sources, such as batteries, accumulators, auto generation and alternative power supplies up to 500 VDC.
