Consultation on new IFT marking

The Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) has launched a Public Consultation directed at all interested parties to provide feedback on a regulatory proposal related to the IFT Seal, which identifies telecommunications and broadcasting products that have been properly homologated in Mexico.

The IFT seeks to modify the effective date of the Guidelines for the use of the IFT Seal, proposing that this obligation begin on July 1, 2027. The goal of this modification is to:

  • Provide greater clarity and certainty to manufacturers, distributors, marketers, and importers of homologated equipment.
  • Give manufacturers, importers, distributors, and marketers more preparation time.
  • Align the effective date with the structural changes resulting from the constitutional reform on organizational simplification, published in December 2024.
  • Temporarily safeguard the vector file of the seal until the regulatory authority defines its use.

NICTA Update on Type Approval Certificate Validity

Papua New Guinea’s National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) has updated its type approval process. Certificates issued through the new Type Approval Online System (TAOS) from 2025 will now have a standardized three-year validity. Certificates issued between 2022 and 2025 have been reissued to align with this validity period, while certificates issued before 2022 are considered expired and require renewal through a formal application.
