Singapore and Japan have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to mutually recognise their Internet-of-Things cybersecurity labelling schemes. Under the arrangement, smart devices certified under Singapore’s Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme and Japan’s JC-STAR scheme can apply for recognition in the other country through a streamlined process.

The cooperation covers products such as smart home assistants, home automation and alarm systems, as well as IoT gateways and hubs. It is intended to reduce duplicate certification requirements for manufacturers, improve market access, and give consumers greater confidence in the security of connected devices. The arrangement will take effect on 1 June 2026.
