Indonesia has undergone a significant government restructuring in the telecommunications sector. The Directorate General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Informatics (SDPPI) and the Directorate of Post and Informatics (PPI) have been merged into the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure (DJID). This consolidation is a key component of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Regulation No. 1 of 2025 (effective on January 10, 2025), and Presidential Regulation No. 174 of 2024 (effective on November 5, 2024), which also mandates the renaming of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (KOMINFO) to the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (KOMDIGI).
The merger aims to centralize operations, improve resource management, and enhance the efficiency of licensing and certification processes within the telecommunications and digital technology sectors. This aligns with the Indonesian government's ambitious "Digital Indonesia 2045" vision to position the country as a global leader in digital transformation.
The restructuring has practical implications for businesses. Starting January 20, 2025, certificates issued by the DJID -formerly SDPPI- will feature a new logo and a revised numbering format, including changes to the QR code.
