The European Commission has issued Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/2499, formally updating the regulatory framework governing harmonized standards for short-range devices (SRDs) and mobile communication systems installed on aircraft. This decision, adopted on 11 December 2025, introduces amendments to Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2191.

The revised decision reflects ongoing efforts to keep European technical standards aligned with innovation, safety requirements, and spectrum management policies. By updating the list of harmonized standards, the Commission aims to provide manufacturers and operators with greater regulatory clarity while maintaining compliance with essential requirements under EU law.

These changes are particularly relevant for stakeholders involved in wireless technologies, aviation systems, and conformity assessment, as harmonized standards play a key role in demonstrating compliance with EU legislation. The updated framework supports the continued safe and efficient use of wireless communications on board aircraft operating within the European Union.
