Korean KC Certification

The KC (Korea Certification) is a mandatory scheme for all electrical, electronic, and radio products entering South Korea, which is administered by the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) under the Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning (MSIP).

Products entering the South Korean market must comply with Safety (KC Safety), Radio Frequency (KC RF), and Electromagnetic Compatibility (KC EMC) requirements.

The broadcasting and communication equipment conformity assessment system, established under Article 58-2 of the Radio Waves Act, includes conformity certification, conformity registration, and interim certification. Any party wishing to manufacture, sell, or import broadcasting and communication equipment must obtain one of these three certifications.

· A party intending to manufacture, sell, or import equipment that can harm the radio environment, the broadcasting communication network, or others, as well as those whose normal operation can be affected by radio waves.

· Examples: Bluetooth, WLAN, Cellular, RF modules, IoT equipment

· A party intending to manufacture, sell, or import broadcasting and communication equipment that is not subject to certification of conformity.

· Examples: Computing device and peripheral, broadcasting set-top box

· If there are no criteria for assessing the conformity of the broadcasting and communication equipment.

· Examples: Newly developed equipment where conformity assessment criteria are not available

Testing: Must be conducted by RRA-accredited labs.

Certificate validity: Indefinite

Labelling: The identification code must be indicated under the KC Mark or where it can be easily visible on the product. If there are more than two identification codes, they can be listed around only one KC Mark (example: end-products with KC approved wireless module).
