SRRC - New Radar Frequency Regulation (MTIT No. 22)

The new regulation -MTIT No. 22 of 2025- specifies the frequency ranges for the following types of radar:

Aviation radar
- Air Traffic Control Secondary Surveillance Radar (ATCSSR): 1030 MHz (interrogator) and 1090 MHz (transponder)
- Air Traffic Control Primary Surveillance Radar (ATCPSR): 1250-1350 MHz and 2700-2950 MHz
- Radio altimeter: 4200-4400 MHz
- Airport Surface Surveillance Radar (ASSR): 9100-9500 MHz
- Foreign Object Debris detection (FOD): 76-77 GHz and 92-94 GHz
- Airborne weather radar: 2700-2950 MHz, 5300-5600 MHz and 9100-9500 MHz

Meteorological radar
- Wind profiler: 46-68 MHz, 470-494 MHz and 1270-1375 MHz
- Weather radar: 2700-2950 MHz, 5300-5600 MHz and 9100-9500 MHz
- Cloud radar: 34.75-35.25 GHz and 93.5-94.8 GHz
- Weather sonde: 1675-1685 MHz

Maritime traffic radar
- Shipborne radar: 2900-3100 MHz and 9300-9500 MHz
- Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) shore-based radar: 9100-9500 MHz

Land traffic radar
- Automotive radar: 76-79 GHz
- Roadside radar: 92-94 GHz

Hydrological, geological and ocean disaster mitigation radar
- Ocean radar: 4438-4488 kHz, 5250-5275 kHz, 9305-9355 kHz, 13450-13550 kHz, 16100-16200 kHz, 24450-24600 kHz, 26200-26350 kHz and 39.5-40 MHz
- Hydrological radar: 402-403 MHz and 9100-9500 MHz
- Land deformation monitoring radar: 15.7-17.2 GHz

Small target detection radar
- Small target detection radar: 2900-3100 MHz, 9000-10000 MHz and 15.7-17.2 GHz

Other radar
- Short-range detection radar and unmanned aerial vehicle-borne radar: 24-24.25 GHz

The regulation specifies some general technical requirements to be met by radar equipment, such as maximum output power levels and power spectral density, relying on and targeting other existing technical regulations and standards. The regulation also specifies that the use of radar frequencies must comply with the Radio Regulations of the People's Republic of China and other relevant regulations.
