Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) proposes to adopt the following standard:

ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11) – 5 GHz WAS/RLAN; Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum

Under RSS-247 – Digital Transmission Systems, Frequency Hopping Systems and Licence-Exempt Local Area Network Devices in 902–928 MHz, 2400–2483.5 MHz, 5150–5350 MHz, and 5470–5895 MHz bands, ETSI EN 301 893 is currently accepted as an alternative to KDB 905462 for Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) testing, except in the 5600–5650 MHz band, where it is the only accepted method.

ISED proposes a six-month transition period during which either ETSI EN 301 893 V1.8.1 (2015-03) or ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11) may be used to demonstrate compliance with ISED’s DFS requirements. After this period, all new certifications must use ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11). The updated standard provides additional information for client devices with radar detection.

Comments on the adoption of the ETSI standard may be submitted before November 19, 2025
