Canada ISED Seeks Public Consultation on RSS-252, Issue 3

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has released a public consultation on Radio Standards Specification RSS-252, Issue 3, which sets the technical and certification requirements for license-exempt Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) On-Board Units (OBUs) operating in the 5895–5925 MHz band.

  • - Scope: Applies to intelligent transportation system (ITS) OBUs used in connected vehicle safety and efficiency applications.
  • - Updates: Reflects transition from DSRC to C-V2X technology and aligns with current spectrum allocations and international practices.
  • - Certification: Establishes compliance criteria for equipment authorization under Canadian rules.
  • - Consultation: Stakeholders are invited to submit comments on the proposed standard.
  • - Deadline: Submissions must be received by November 10, 2025.
