The Communications, Space and Technology (CST) has published the Information Memorandum for the Specialized Radio Network License in the 450 MHz band, to continue the implementation plan of the Spectrum Outlook for Commercial and Innovative Use 2021-2023.

CST explains that providing the needed frequencies will help to establish a national specialized communications network to meet the demands for wireless communication systems from various national sectors – such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Transportation, Logistics and others.

Through the collaboration with local and international entities, CST held a number of workshops to study the current and future needs for wireless communications and meet the demands via a specialized communications network. Addressing these needs will accelerate the adoption of smart applications for entities and the automation of their operations, in addition to the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) applications for communication, sensing, monitoring and control.

CST further clarifies that it held a public consultation on the 450 MHz award last year 2022, and it has now published the “Information Memorandum for the Specialized Communications Network Frequency License in the 450 MHz band”, noting that the deadline for applications from eligible applicants will be on Sunday, July 9th 2023.
