Public Consultation on changes to the Guidelines for Mobile Cellular Devices

On 23rd of March 2021, the Communication Authority of Kenya have started a public consultation on "Draft Guidelines on Features and Technical Specifications for Mobile Cellular Devices imported into and distributed in Kenya".
 
Following changes have been proposed in the draft:
 
1. Reference to article stating that only licenced telecommunications vendors shall be authorized to import into or distribute mobile cellular device in Kenya was removed.
2. All Mobile cellular device shall now also comply with the EN IEC 62368-1:2020 Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment – Part 1: Safety requirements.

If any interested party wishes to submit any comments, then they can do this by submitting a request to The Director General until 23rd of April 2021.
