On 14 May 2025, the European Commission adopted Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/893, which updates the list of harmonised standards under Directive 2014/53/EU (the Radio Equipment Directive, RED). This ensures that radio equipment placed on the EU market complies with current safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and spectrum efficiency requirements.

Updated List of Harmonised Standards
The Decision adds new standards and revises existing ones to reflect technological advances:

  • EN 301 406-2 V3.1.1 (DECT digital enhanced cordless telecommunications)
  • EN 301 489-3 V2.3.2 (EMC for short-range devices)
  • EN 301 489-17 V3.3.1 (EMC for broadband data transmission systems)
  • EN 301 489-19 V2.2.1 (EMC for satellite systems)
  • EN 301 489-54 V1.1.1 (EMC for ultra-wideband equipment)
  • EN 301 908-23 V15.1.1, EN 301 908-24 V15.1.1, EN 301 908-25 V15.1.1 (IMT user equipment for LTE, 5G NR, and combined technologies)
  • EN 303 363-2 V1.1.1 (satellite earth stations below 3 GHz)
  • EN 303 661 V1.1.1 (radar sensors operating in 76–77 GHz band)
  • EN 303 687 V1.1.1 (WAS/RLAN in 6 GHz band)
  • EN 303 753 V1.1.1 (additional conditions for WAS/RLAN in 5 GHz band)
  • EN 304 220-1 V1.2.1 and EN 304 220-2 V1.2.1 (wideband data transmission systems)
  • EN 301 489-52 V1.3.1 (EMC for LTE user equipment)
  • EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (WAS/RLAN in 5 GHz band)
  • EN 301 908-3 V15.1.1 (IMT base stations)
  • EN 301 908-13 V13.3.1 (IMT repeaters)
  • EN 302 064 V2.2.1 (fixed radio systems)
  • EN 303 213-5-1 V2.1.1 (aeronautical surveillance systems)

Transition Deadlines
Most previous versions of these standards remain valid until 15 November 2026, except for EN 301 893 V2.1.1, which remains valid until 15 May 2028 to accommodate ongoing use in wireless access systems in the 5 GHz band.
