Overview of Type Approval Requirements

In Ukraine most radio devices are subject to Ukrainian technical regulations which are harmonized with European directives. Likewise, conformity assessment procedures in Ukraine are aligned with rules and procedures for conformance of electronic equipment in the EU. Ukraine certification bodies accredited by the national accreditation body for Ukraine (NAAU) issue approvals based on full European technical assessment documents such as EU test reports and risk assessment etc.

Electronic devices fall under the following technical regulations in Ukraine:

· Radio Equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment

· Safety of low voltage electrical equipment (LVD)

· Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

· RoHS

Manufacturers can hold the type approval directly in Ukraine, no local holder is required.

Schemes

Module A - Declaration of Conformity based on internal production control documents.

Internal production control is a conformity assessment procedure by which manufacturer declares that the radio equipment complies with the requirements of the technical regulation of radio equipment which apply to the specified radio equipment.

Module B +C – Type Approval Certification issued by accredited Certification Body.

Type examination is a part of the conformity assessment procedure, according to which the notified body examines the technical design of radio equipment, checks and certifies that the technical design of radio equipment meets the essential requirements of the technical regulations.

Scheme choice depends on the applicable technical regulation (TR), as every TR may have different schemes. For example:

· TR RoHS /LVD only Module A is applicable.

· TR EMC Module A as well as Module B+C will apply.

· TR Radio (TR RED) Module A as well as Module B+C will apply.

Ukrainian type approval certification and/or Declaration of Conformity can usually be obtained based on EU TEC though in cases where EU documents are incomplete, sample testing may be required.
