Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has released the updated technical standard NBTC TS 1006-2568, which governs wireless microphone radio communication equipment. This new regulation replaces the previous NBTC TS 1006-2560 standard and introduces critical updates for manufacturers targeting the Thai market.

The scope of the regulation extends beyond standard wireless microphones to include:
  • Wireless In-Ear Monitoring Systems
  • Wireless Tour Guide Systems
  • Assistive Listening Devices
  • Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS)

Key Technical Parameters and Impact
The standard defines specific frequency ranges and power limits that manufacturers must adhere to for compliance. Permitted bands include 88 - 108 MHz, 165 - 210 MHz, 694 - 703 MHz, 748 - 758 MHz, and 803 - 806 MHz. Notably, maximum rated output power varies between 10 mW and 50 mW depending on the frequency band. Additionally, new bandwidth requirements have been established, including a limit of 8 MHz for WMAS devices.
Conformity Assessment Procedures
The certification pathway depends on the operating frequency of the device:
  • Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC): Applicable to devices in the 88 - 108 MHz and 165 - 210 MHz bands.
  • Class A Certification (Type Approval): Mandatory for devices operating in the 694 - 703 MHz, 748 - 758 MHz, and 803 - 806 MHz bands.

Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT)
Under the new NBTC TS 1042-2568, digital radio communication systems utilizing DECT technology must now adhere to updated parameters:
  • Permitted Radio Band: 1880–1900 MHz.
  • Maximum Transmitted Power: 250 mW (e.i.r.p.).
  • Technical Standards: Compliance with ETSI EN 301 406 (V2.2.1 or newer) is required.

Devices must also meet updated electrical safety standards, specifically IEC 62368-1 or the Thai equivalent TIS 62368 Part 1-2563. This was related to the public consultation period for related draft announcements that concluded on 17 March 2025.

For manufacturers with existing certifications or those planning new product launches, understanding these transitions is vital for maintaining market access and avoiding supply chain disruptions.
