Democratic Republic of Congo publish new Type Approval regulation Décision n°065/ARPTC/CLG/2019

Democratic Republic of the Congo Regulator – Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Télécommunications du Congo (ARPTC) – have now published Décision n°065/ARPTC/CLG/2019. 

Validity periods have been defined depending on equipment type. Antennas and quipment operating in telecommunication networks and broadcasting transmitters will have a validity of 5 years and all other non-exempt equipment will have an approval validity of 2 years.

Décision n°065/ARPTC/CLG/2019 also confirms devices that exemptions from Type Approval are in place for various equipment, most notably radio installations exclusively composed of low power and short-range devices.

The new regulation also publishes new labelling requirements with approved equipment now needing an irremovable label indicating the approval number and date, identification of the model & batch or serial number, manufacturer or supplier identification and an indication if the device is intended to be connected to a public network or not.

Venezuela Updates Type Approval Certificate Validity Under SIGESTEL

CONATEL, through the SIGESTEL platform, has updated the validity framework for type approval certificates in Venezuela. While certificates issued during the initial SIGESTEL implementation phase were standardized to a one-year validity period, newly issued certificates are now being granted with indefinite validity. Existing certificates will remain valid until their expiry date, after which new applications submitted through SIGESTEL will be issued under the updated framework.
