CRA Qatar Announces End of 3G Mobile Services by December 31, 2025

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Qatar has decided to terminate third-generation (3G) mobile services effective December 31, 2025. This move is part of its strategy to enhance the quality of telecommunications in the country.

Key Details:

End of 3G Services:
Ooredoo Qatar Q.P.S.C. and Vodafone Qatar P.Q.S.C. will be required to discontinue their 3G services by the specified deadline.
Spectrum Optimization: The decision will allow better utilization of the spectrum to strengthen 4G and 5G networks.
Import Restrictions: The import of phones that support only 2G and 3G technologies is banned, while devices compatible with 4G/VoLTE that meet CRA standards are approved.
