20-OCT-25

The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) officially ended its activities on October 17, 2025, concluding more than a decade of independent regulation over Mexico’s telecommunications and broadcasting sectors.

With its closure, all regulatory duties and digital infrastructure will transition to the newly established Comisión Reguladora en Telecomunicaciones (CRT). The new commission is expected to begin operations shortly, marking a new phase for Mexico’s telecom and broadcasting landscape.

A transition period of around one week is anticipated as the CRT assumes oversight and reviews both current and new Type Approval submissions. Temporary delays in approval processes may occur during this adjustment phase.
