The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India released an official notification on December 29, 2025, confirming an extension of the existing generic exemption under the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) framework.

This extension permits manufacturers and importers of specific telecom equipment categories to continue claiming exemption from submitting test reports as part of the MTCTE certification process. The exemption will remain valid until June 30, 2026, unless TEC issues a revised notification earlier.

The extension applies to a broad range of telecom, radio, satellite, and network infrastructure equipment, including but not limited to:
  • - Mobile radio trunking systems
  • - Cellular network repeaters
  • - Precision Time Protocol (PTP) grand master equipment
  • - VHF and UHF radio systems
  • - Point-to-point (PTP) and point-to-multipoint (PMP) microwave fixed radio systems
  • - ADSL and VDSL equipment
  • - Optical fiber products, including single-mode fiber and optical fiber cables
  • - High-frequency (HF) radio systems
  • - GSO VSAT and GSO user terminals
  • - NGSO terminals and integrated gateways
  • - Satellite communication equipment
  • - Cellular customer premise equipment (CPE)

Manufacturers are advised to continue monitoring TEC communications closely, as the exemption may be revised, withdrawn, or replaced with mandatory compliance requirements in the future.
