01-MAY-25

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) of the Virgin Islands has launched a public consultation to define the spectrum strategy that will facilitate the deployment of 5G networks in the territory.

The document highlights the expected benefits of 5G for users and key sectors, as well as the challenges of its implementation, including the possible need to free up additional spectrum and promote infrastructure sharing.

Although the Commission cannot require operators to invest in 5G, it aims to create a favorable regulatory environment that encourages the adoption of this technology. All interested parties are invited to submit their comments by May 29, 2025.
