Type Approval Procedure Clarification for Telecom-Enabled Equipment in Lebanon
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Lebanon has issued a clarification regarding the application and validity of Type Approval Certificates for telecom-enabled equipment.
Application Process
Applicant: Applications must be submitted in the name of the equipment manufacturer. This can be performed directly by the manufacturer or through an appointed authorized representative, agent, or intermediary.
Scope: The certification process applies to telecom-enabled equipment regardless of whether it is imported as a standalone device, an embedded component in another product, or as a spare part, provided it is covered by the relevant Type Approval.
Validity and Usage
Certificate Issuance: Type Approval Certificates are issued in the name of the manufacturer and are specific to a model or product.
Multi-Importer Reliance: Once a Type Approval Certificate is issued, it covers the specific approved model or product for all importers. There is no requirement for individual importers, distributors, or official representatives to obtain separate certificates for the same approved product.
Requirement for Import: As long as the imported equipment corresponds to the model and technical specifications of a valid Type Approval Certificate, the duplication of the approval process is not required.
