FCC Adds Foreign-Produced Routers to Covered List

 On March 23, 2026, the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau updated the Covered List under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act to include routers produced in foreign countries. The FCC states this action was based on an Executive Branch national security determination that such routers create supply chain and cybersecurity risks, including risks to critical infrastructure and U.S. persons. The notice further explains that covered routers cannot receive FCC equipment authorization under section 2.903(a), and applicants for authorization must certify that their equipment is not covered. The update includes an exception for routers granted Conditional Approval by the Department of War or Department of Homeland Security.
