Beam WPT systems transmit electrical power wirelessly using radio waves over distances of about 5-10 meters, and are expected to power sensors and other equipment in environments such as factories and warehouses. In the 920 MHz band, these systems typically provide low power (several tens of milliwatts), but growing adoption has increased demand for more flexible installation locations and broader applications.
In response, the Information and Communications Council studied the technical requirements needed to use 920 MHz band beam WPT systems outdoors - either on premises or as specified low-power radio stations with limited power output. On October 20, 2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications received a partial report on these outdoor-use requirements and indicated it plans to develop the relevant regulations based on the report.
