Executive Summary
This document outlines the technical requirements for fixed line-of-sight radio systems operating in the 10.7–11.7 GHz frequency band in Canada. It defines parameters for frequency channel arrangements, transmitter characteristics, antenna radiation patterns, and operational constraints to ensure efficient spectrum use.

SRSP-310.7 (Issue 5, October 2026) sets out the technical requirements for fixed line-of-sight radio systems operating in the 10.7–11.7 GHz frequency band in Canada.
Scope
The standard establishes the minimum technical requirements for point-to-point fixed radio systems to ensure efficient use of the frequency band. It applies to new installations and modifications to existing systems and must be read alongside SRSP-300-Gen. Where the requirements differ, SRSP-310.7 takes precedence.
Key Technical Requirements
1. Frequency Channel Arrangements
The standard specifies a common transmit/receive frequency separation of 490 MHz and supports channel spacings of 10, 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80 MHz. It also provides formulas for calculating channel centre frequencies and encourages the use of Co-Channel Dual Polarization (CCDP) to improve backhaul capacity.
2. Transmitter Requirements
- Power Limits: Maximum transmitter power is 7.5 W (+8.7 dBW) for bandwidths up to 20 MHz and 10 W (+10 dBW) for bandwidths above 20 MHz and up to 80 MHz.
- Frequency Stability: The centre frequency must remain within ±0.003% of the assigned frequency.
- Maximum e.i.r.p.: Limited to +55 dBW per RF channel.
3. Spectral Efficiency
The minimum spectral efficiency requirement is 4.4 bits/s/Hz in moderately and highly congested areas and 3.0 bits/s/Hz in non-congested areas.
4. Antenna Requirements
The standard defines antenna radiation pattern limits under Envelope A and Envelope B to maintain directivity and reduce interference between radio systems.
5. Operational Requirements
- Satellite Protection: New fixed service antennas should avoid pointing towards the geostationary satellite orbit to minimise interference from space stations.
- Frequency Assignment: Preference is given to the lower sub-bands (10.7–11.075 GHz and 11.2–11.575 GHz). Use of the upper sub-bands (11.075–11.2 GHz and 11.575–11.7 GHz) requires technical justification.
Overall, the updated standard sets out the frequency planning, transmitter, antenna and operational requirements for fixed radio systems operating in Canada's 10.7–11.7 GHz band, with a focus on efficient spectrum use and interference management.
